COLUMBIA, S.C. — Suspended South Carolina freshman forward Sahnya Jah has entered the transfer portal.

Jah was suspended on Feb. 8 for conduct detrimental to the team. Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley would not give more details about Jah's suspension, saying the player could work her way back onto the team.

Staley announced Jah's latest move Monday.

“It is unfortunate that her time with us was short, but we wish her the best in the next steps of her career,” Staley said in a statement.

Jah is a 6-foot forward from Alexandria, Virginia, who was ranked the 40th best college prospect in last year's class. She appeared in 16 games, averaging 3.1 points and 2.0 rebounds this season.

South Carolina (32-0) is the overall No. 1 seed for the NCAA Tournament and opens Friday against either Sacred Heart or Presbyterian.
