Historically low ratings for NCAA championship game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Monday night’s NCAA basketball championship game averaged 17.8 million viewers and 10.6 percent of homes on TBS, TNT and truTV combined, historically low figures for the event the first time it was shown on cable television.
Villanova’s 77-74 victory over North Carolina peaked at 22.3 million viewers from 11:15 to 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The 10.6 rating was the lowest on record for the championship game. The 17.8 million viewers was among the lowest.
