Hofstra couldn't survive a second-half cold spell and sloppy ballhandling in a 69-61 loss to Old Dominion Saturday in a Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball game in Norfolk, Va.

It was the fifth straight loss for Hofstra (6-12, 0-6), which hasn't won since an 83-75 victory over Iona on Dec. 29.

Hofstra took a 38-33 halftime lead on the shooting of Mike Moore, who scored 19 of his 21 points before the break. But things changed in the second half as Hofstra shot 26.9 percent and was outscored 36-23 by the Monarchs (10-8, 5-1).

"They were able to capitalize off our turnovers in the second half," Hofstra coach Mo Cassara said of Old Dominion, which scored 23 points off 20 Hofstra turnovers. "It was a good effort by us but not enough to beat a good team in a very tough environment."

Nathaniel Lester added 16 points for Hofstra. Trian Iliadis led Old Dominion with 19 points.
