Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl and Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl have become Super Bowl Sunday traditions for those who prefer their pregame shows adorable rather than snore-able.

Now cometh another sports-centric entry from Hallmark Channel, entitled “Meow Madness,” which premieres at 8 p.m. Monday, an hour or so before a certain big college basketball game on CBS.

As with the Kitten Bowl, the program is produced in partnership with North Shore Animal League America, which is based in Port Washington, and each of the “cat-letes” – puns are a news release tradition for these shows – is adoptable.

This time animal advocate Beth Stern, longtime host of the Kitten Bowl and wife of satellite radio host Howard Stern, will be joined by former NBA player John Salley and Kitten Bowl veteran Mary Carillo.

Here is more from the news release, which promises that “100 adorable, adoptable ‘cat-letes’ purr-fect an unstoppable zone defense while taking shots from the ‘flea throw’ zone as each team claws its way to ‘The Final Fur.’”

Hey, we don’t write this stuff, they do! Fur-real!
