NYIT, Molloy women’s basketball win, moving into ECC title game
Nina Vukosavljevic scored 30 points Saturday, including six free throws in the final 27 seconds for No. 5 NYIT, which knocked off No. 1 Queens in the ECC women’s basketball tournament semifinals, 76-71, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Vukosavljevic also had eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
NYIT broke Queens’ 16-game winning streak while improving to 18-10.
ECC rookie of the year Margaret Knollmeyer added 16 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one block.
NYIT will face No. 2 Molloy at noon today at the University of Bridgeport in the ECC championship final. The winner earns an automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
Molloy 75, St. Thomas Aquinas 55: Kamala Thompson and Aliyah McDonald each scored 14 points to lead No. 2 Molloy (21-8) in the ECC semifinals. Symone Kelly and Ihnacinse Grady each added 13 points.
