Roundup: Petrucelli's 24 points propel Molloy
John Petrucelli had 24 points, six rebounds and six steals to lead Molloy in a 74-72 win over St. Rose Saturday in the Adelphi men's basketball tournament.
Jimmy Nolan scored 21 points, including a three-pointer that gave the Lions a 72-70 lead with 1:32 left. Nolan and Petrucelli hit a free throw each to hold off St. Rose, which hit a shot at the buzzer to create the final margin.
Matt McLeod added nine points and two steals for Molloy (4-6). Andre Pope's 19 points led St. Rose (1-9).
Sullivan CC 85, Nassau CC 76:Malcolm Moore had 22 points and four assists, and Tim Johnson added 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Nassau CC (8-5, 6-3 Region XV). Quentin Tate added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Bloomfield 68, Adelphi 66:Terry Hicks' three-pointer gave Bloomfield a 67-65 lead with 50 seconds left. Matt Wafula had 24 points and 16 rebounds for Bloomfield (7-5). John Calarco had 19 points and Duane Morgan added 12 points and 12 rebounds for Adelphi (8-2).
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
NYIT 66, Bellarmine 58: Senior Cierra Baker had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to record the second triple-double of her career and lead NYIT (5-4). Rebecca Lynch added 11 points and seven rebounds, and Nikki Jo Rotolo had 11 points. Allison Matheis and Kylie Brady each scored 14 points for Bellarmine (6-4).
Briarcliffe 61, Southern Maine 32:Ifeanyi Ofili, Sis Simpson and Shenita Urguhart each had 17 points for Briarcliffe (11-1, 7-1 USCAA). Sasha Santamaria added 10 rebounds. Marissa Welch had 12 points for Southern Maine (11-2, 8-1).
Seton Hall 65, Stony Brook 30: Brittany Morris had 19 points for Seton Hall (7-5). Destiny Jacobs scored eight points for Stony Brook (1-10).
