WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Kirsten Jeter scored 17 points to lead three Stony Brook players in double figures, but it wasn’t enough as the eight-seeded Seawolves fell, 74-65, to top-seeded UMBC in an America East women’s basketball quarterfinal Friday night.

SBU, which beat Maine in a play-in game Thursday night, finishes the season at 7-23.

Jeter, a senior, also grabbed 11 rebounds and become the sixth player in program history to score 1,500 points. Juanita Cochran added 15 points and seven rebounds, and Sam Landers chipped in 10 points for SBU. Michelle Kurowski scored 26 points to lead UMBC (20-10), which will face the winner of No. 4 Hartford/No. 5 Albany at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

UMBC had nine made field goals in the second half but went 23-for-31 from the foul line. Stony Brook, which was held to 36.1 percent from the field, trailed by 10 with 2:10 left but scored the next four points to get within six. But UMBC pulled away to seal the win.
