Smith gets 15 as St. John's sets mark

Shenneika Smith had 15 points and Da'Shena Stevens 13 points as visiting St. John's set a school mark defensively in its 55-25 win over Seton Hall in a Big East women's game Saturday.

The 25 points scored by Seton Hall (7-17, 0-10) set the mark for fewest points scored by an opponent against St. John's (15-8, 7-3), besting the previous record of 26 set Jan. 22, 1975 in a 53-26 win over Stony Brook.

St. John's senior forward Tesia Harris had six points, including the 1,000th of her career.

LIU Post 77, Bridgeport 72: Kenyatta Sears' jumper with 3:11 left in overtime gave LIU Post (16-7, 7-4) the lead for good in the ECC. Felicia Joyner scored five of her 25 points in overtime. Catherine Lutz hit a three with 1.7 seconds left to tie the score at 67 for Post. Samantha Kopp had five blocks in the win.

Nassau CC 83, Sullivan CC 49: Hannalee Fordyce had 21 points, 13 rebounds and eight steals and Nicole Brown 21 points to lead Nassau CC (12-1, 11-0 in Region XV).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

St. Joseph's (L.I.) 90, Sage 77: Vincent Russo had 33 points, including nine threes to lead St. Joseph's (17-2, 13-0 Skyline). Trey Black had 25 points and 10 assists and Senior Chris Jimenez hit two threes and tied the school record for threes in a career with 288, breaking the mark set by David Acree in 2009.

Bridgeport 88, LIU Post 86: Lloyd Antoine's layup with 1:26 left gave Bridgeport (13-8, 8-3 ECC) an 82-81 lead. Stefan Bonneau had 31 points for LIU Post (15-5, 9-1).
