Statistical quirk doesn't stop Michigan

Can you win a basketball game without making a free throw? Maybe in junior high or high school. But can a major college basketball program do it?

That question was answered this afternoon as Michigan crushed Tennessee, 75-45, in a second-round NCAA tournament game. Not getting to the free throw line didn't seem to have an imapact on the Wolverines, who went 0-for-1 from the line.

They became the first team in tournament history to win a game without making a free throw.

It also helped that the Michigan outscored the Volunteers, 42-16, in the second half. Former Half Hollow Hills West All-Amercian Tobias Harris scored 19 points, but none of them came in the second half.

Tennessee's next leading scorer -Trae Golden- had just six points.

 It's a loss that Vols coach Bruce Pearl may not have to worry about. Reports are swirling that his future with the program is in serious jeopardy.
