UConn transfer visits Hofstra

Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, a member of Connecticut's national championship basketball team, recently made an unofficial visit to Hofstra, a school official confirmed on Thursday. Dissatisfied with his playing time, Coombs-McDaniel has decided to transfer and reportedly is considering Miami, Missouri and Cal-Irvine besides Hofstra.

The 6-7 sophomore forward appeared in all 41 games for the Huskies, averaging 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. But he received only 16.6 minutes per game playing time and has expressed an interest in going someplace where he could get 30 minutes per game and take a leadership role.

On April 21, Coombs-McDaniel was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He apologized after a court appearance on Thursday at which he agreed to enter a drug counseling program. If he completes it successfully, the arrest will be erased from his record.

When Coombs-McDaniel transfers, he will be required to sit out one season, but he will have two years of eligibility left after his transfer year.
