Wagner shocks Pittsburgh
Latif Rivers scored all 18 of his points in the second half -- including six critical free throws in the final minute -- to lead Wagner to a stunning 59-54 victory over host No. 15 Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Kenneth Ortiz had 12 points and Tyler Murray 10 for the Seahawks (8-3), who won their first game over a ranked opponent since knocking off then-No. 15 Alabama on Nov. 24, 1978.
Pitt (11-2) saw its nine-game winning streak snapped in emphatic fashion. Ashton Gibbs scored 14 points for the Panthers, who turned it over 18 times while losing to a Northeast Conference opponent for the first time in 70 games.
"We've got good players, we practice really hard and I think our guys feel like they deserve wins like this and moments like this," said Danny Hurley, in his second season as Wagner's coach.
Baylor 83, West Virginia 81: Pierre Jackson scored 23 points, including eight in a row during regulation and overtime, to lift No. 6 Baylor (12-0) in the Las Vegas Classic final. The Mountaineers (9-3) got 28 points and 17 rebounds from Kevin Jones.
Louisville 70, Western Kentucky 60: Russ Smith scored 23 points and No. 4 Louisville overcame a sleepy start and rallied from an eight-point deficit in the second half. Gorgui Dieng had 13 points and 15 rebounds -- his fifth straight double-double -- for the Cardinals (12-0), who remained one of the nation's six unbeaten Division I teams.
Seton Hall 87, Longwood 61: Jordan Theodore scored a career-high 26 points as Seton Hall (11-1) overcame an early double-digit deficit in Farmville, Va., for the Pirates' eighth straight win. Fuquan Edwin tied his career high with 20 points and shot 9-for-12 for the Pirates.
Providence 80, Rhode Island 61: Bryce Cotton scored 16 of his game-high 19 points in the second half in Kingston, R.I., to lead Providence (11-2) to its seventh straight victory.
Wisconsin 79, Mississippi Valley St. 45: Jordan Taylor scored 17 points and host No. 13 Wisconsin (11-2) cruised after taking a 20-4 lead in the first eight minutes. MVSU (1-10) was called for 29 fouls to 15 for the Badgers.
Cincinnati 95, Chicago State 60: Sean Kilpatrick scored 21 points to lead six Cincinnati players in double figures for the host Bearcats (9-3). Jeremy Robinson scored 18 points for Chicago State (0-13).
Tennessee 66, E. Tennessee 63: Cameron Tatum scored 13 points, and host Tennessee (5-6) hit all four of its free throws in the final minute.-- AP
