It was a reversal of roles for the Stony Brook women’s team. The Seawolves held 10-point halftime leads in their last two games only to come up short in the end of both.
Stony Brook turned the tables yesterday, as it overcame a 10-point halftime deficit for a 42-40 win over Robert Morris at Pritchard Gymnasium. Dani Klupenger hit the go-ahead three with 14 seconds left as the Seawolves (1-3), who trailed by as many as 14, got first-year coach Beth O’Boyle her first career win.
It was the first loss for Robert Morris (3-1).
“What a tremendous team effort,” O’Boyle said. “We focused on doing the little things down the stretch and that put us in the position to win the game.”
Klupenger had 13 points and Misha Horsey chipped in 11 points. Things will get tougher for the Seawolves, who head to Ohio for a date with the No.19 Buckeyes on Friday.
