Illini impressive

Mikel Leshoure ran for 119 yards, Nate Bussey had a 16-yard interception return for a score as Illinois beat injury-depleted Penn State, 33-13, yesterday at homecoming in Happy Valley.

Derek Dimke kicked four field goals and the Illini (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) overcame three fumbles by return man Jack Ramsey. Evan Royster was limited to 35 yards on 11 carries for the Nittany Lions (3-3, 0-2).

Hogs hang on

Tramain Thomas' interception in the end zone on the game's final play saved No. 11 Arkansas' 24-17 victory over Texas A&M in Arlington, Texas. Ryan Mallett threw three touchdown passes in the first half for the Razorbacks (4-1).

Ducks start slow again

LaMichael James scored three touchdowns, including an 84-yard reception, and No. 3 Oregon (6-0, 3-0 Pac-10) shook off host Washington State in the second half for a 43-23 win.

Beavers trip Arizona

Ryan Katz threw for 393 yards and two touchdowns, sneaked across for another score and Oregon State held on to upset No. 9 Arizona, 29-27.
