Orange edges Rutgers

Freshman Ross Krautman kicked a 24-yard field goal with 1:07 to play and Syracuse (7-3, 4-2 Big East) defeated host Rutgers, 13-10, Saturday.

Ryan Nassib threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Antwon Bailey, who had runs of 14 and 15 yards on the winning drive. Freshman Jeremy Deering ran for a career-best 166 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown, for Rutgers (4-5, 1-3).

Army likely in a bowl

Quarterback Brent Steelman and Brian Cobbs each had two of Army's six rushing touchdowns in a 45-28 win at Kent State. The Black Knights (6-4) are bowl eligible for the first time in 14 years, a likely berth in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hokies streaking

Tyrod Taylor hit Marcus Davis with a pair of third-quarter touchdown passes to help No. 20 Virginia Tech beat host North Carolina, 26-10. The Hokies (8-2, 6-0 ACC) need to win one of their final two games to clinch the conference's Coastal Division.

Arizona stumbles

Marc Tyler ran for a career-high 160 yards and Southern California climbed into a tie with host No. 18 Arizona for third in the Pac-10 with a 24-21 victory.- AP
