Steven Laurino threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead LIU Post in a 45-10 rout of host Cheyney Saturday in their PSAC East opener.

Laurino completed 27 of 35, including six to his older brother, Grayson, for 77 yards. The siblings opened the scoring, connecting on a 17-yard TD with 8:23 left in the first quarter.

Laurino, a sophomore, had thrown for four touchdowns in Post's 42-27 win over Cheyney last season.

Ryan Derham had six catches for 61 yards and a TD for the Pioneers (2-0). Jeff Mack rushed for 91 yards and a score, and Thomas Beverly and backup quarterback Tyler Heuer each added a touchdown.

The Pioneers pulled away in the second quarter and Beverly's 3-yard TD run made it 22-3 with 1:09 left in the half. Tim Sternfeld's 33-yard field goal made it 32-3 in the third before the Wolves (1-2) scored their first touchdown with 1:13 left in the quarter.

Post's defense held Cheyney's Blaze Wasserleben to 5-for-14 passing with 20 yards and two interceptions. The quarterback did, however, have a 70-yard touchdown run.

Antonio Powell-Field had seven tackles and an interception, and linebacker Chris Dilorio had an interception. Joseph Thompson had a sack, and David Sumpter had seven tackles and a forced fumble.
