McDaniels runs for 234 yards and three TDs for USMMA
Matthew McDaniels was an all-purpose threat in his first start at quarterback for USMMA Saturday, running for 234 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries and throwing for 113 yards and a score as the Mariners overcame a three-touchdown deficit and topped Susquehanna, 35-28, in its non-conference season opener.
McDaniels' third rushing touchdown, a 66-yard run with 6:12 left in the fourth quarter, gave USMMA the final margin.
Trailing 21-0 with 1:11 left in the first quarter, McDaniels hit Connor Kennedy with a 71-yard scoring pass to put USMMA on the board. McDaniels scored on a 9-yard run with 9:35 left in the second to cut the deficit to 21-14.
LIU Post 47, Millersville 16: Steven Laurino threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 114 yards and a score for LIU Post in non-conference. Jeff Mack had 89 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and Anthony Brunetti added two rushing scores, including a 28-yard run that gave Post a 32-9 lead with 6:24 left in the third quarter. Joe Botti had two touchdown catches and Mike Williams had a 7-yard scoring run in the win.
