Rutgers comes up short

Giovani Bernard rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns, on runs of 60 and 6 yards, and host North Carolina committed five turnovers in its 24-22 victory over Rutgers yesterday. Mohamed Sanu set career highs with 13 catches for 119 yards for Rutgers (1-1).

Chas Dodd was 25-for-47 for 243 yards and two touchdowns for the Scarlet Knights.

Ingram rumbles

Defensive end Melvin Ingram's strip sack and 5-yard fumble return for his second TD of the day with 3:12 left gave No. 12 South Carolina a 10-point lead in a 45-42 victory at Georgia.

Great escapes

Backup quarterbacks Case McCoy and David Ash rotated snaps after Garrett Gilbert was pulled in the second quarter and host No. 24 Texas rallied from a 13-3 halftime deficit to beat BYU, 17-16.

Coach has seizure
