Harvard barely dented
An academic cheating scandal at Harvard that has staggered the athletic department and cost the Crimson its basketball co-captains did not take much of a toll on the football team.
All of the football team's starters and at least 105 players on the 119-man roster were in uniform yesterday, as Treavor Scales rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns, including a 66-yard run, to help Harvard top San Diego, 28-13, in Cambridge, Mass.
Nebraska coach ill
Nebraska coach Bo Pelini was taken by ambulance to a hospital while his Cornhuskers were in the middle of a 42-13 victory over Arkansas State in Lincoln. Pelini said in a statement after the game that he had precautionary tests that "checked out just fine." He said that he planned to go to work Sunday. There was no word on the nature of Pelini's symptoms.
Big 12 debut for TCU
Casey Pachall threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns, both of them to Brandon Carter, and No. 16 TCU overcame four turnovers in a 20-6 victory over host Kansas for the Horned Frogs' first Big 12 victory. Carter had eight catches for 141 yards, and Waymon James had 99 yards rushing for the Horned Frogs (2-0, 1-0), who pushed the nation's longest win streak to 10 games.
