A highly recruited Texas high school running back has been arrested in a town east of Dallas after authorities say he fled police in a vehicle.

Soso Jamabo, whose legal name is Sotonye Josiah Jamabo, was booked into the Kaufman County Jail early Sunday. Kemp Police Chief Robert Walker says the 19-year-old Jamabo was charged with evading arrest after leading an officer on a high-speed chase.

Kemp says during the chase, people in the truck threw unidentified objects out the window.

Jamabo, a UCLA recruit, plays for Plano West High School in suburban Dallas.

Bond was set at $7,500. Jail records did not list an attorney for him. Three passengers in the truck were given citations.

UCLA Associate Athletic Director Josh Rupprecht says the school is gathering more information on the incident.
