GREENVIEW, S.C. — Freshman Trey Hedden threw a pair of long touchdown passes in the second quarter and ran for a third as Furman claimed its first victory in three starts, rolling past previously unbeaten Stetson 48-7 on Saturday.

Already owning a 10-0 lead, Hedden found Ben Ferguson with a 51-yard strike and followed it less than three minutes later by connecting with Joshua Harris on a 50-yard score as the Paladins built a 24-0 lead at intermission.

Hedden scored on a 13-yard run to start the third quarter and finished the day completing 20 of 27 passes for 267 yards. Harris had seven catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns after pulling in a 30-yard pass from Carson Jones for a score late in the third quarter.

Furman lost its season opener at Ole Miss and came up short in its home opener last week, falling 24-20 to Charleston Southern.

Matt O'Connor completed 14 of 32 pass attempts for 114 yards and was picked off twice for Stetson (2-1). Chris Stephenson was 2 of 7 passing for 18 yards with an interception.
