Cupolo's hat trick

Sophomore Mike Cupolo scored three times, the first shorthanded, as C.W. Post defeated Scranton, 7-2, to win the Great Northeast Collegiate Hockey Conference title Sunday night in Bristol, Pa.

Senior Jim Rettig added a goal and two assists and senior Shawn Hroch, who scored 36 goals this season, scored once. Sophomore goalie Will Niefeld made 22 saves for Post, which finished 18-9-1 and ranked 11th in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division II rankings.

The Pioneers defeated La Salle, 3-0, in the quarterfinals and Bucknell, 5-1, in the semifinals. Scranton is 16-2-1.

MEN'S BASKETBALLQueens 83, Molloy 74: Harvey Fuller had 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Molloy (11-16, 9-10 ECC). Lamonte Lans had a game-high 20 points for Queens (16-9, 13-6).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Molloy 50, Queens 46: Caitlin Wheeler had a career-high 24 points with five rebounds and five blocks to lead Molloy (17-7, 14-5 ECC). Wheeler owns Molloy's single-season blocks mark with 85. Queens is 6-19, 6-13.
