Dowling eliminated in NCAA baseball

Ryan Mahoney went 3-for-6 and had four RBIs as No. 2 Le Moyne eliminated sixth-seeded Dowling from the NCAA Division II East Regional in Manchester, N.H., on Friday with a 17-4 victory.

Sean Craig had two RBIs, and J.C. Brandmaier and Ian Schneider each had an RBI for Dowling (31-19).

Mahoney had a two-run single and Matthew Ciraco added a run-scoring single as Le Moyne (41-14) took a 6-0 lead in the top of the first.

The Dolphins blew open the game with a nine-run fourth and added a run in the fifth and sixth inning for a 17-0 lead.

Le Moyne's Ed Kohout struck out four and walked two over five innings of hitless baseball to pick up the win.

Adam Brown allowed six runs and four hits in two-thirds3 of an inning for Dowling.
