Farber's no-hitter lifts Farmingdale

Senior Nicole Farber tossed a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts as Farmingdale State completed a doubleheader sweep of Lehman, 19-0, in a non-conference women's softball doubleheader Saturday.

It was the second no-hitter in six days for the Rams (16-2). Hope Zino threw a no-hitter in a 19-0 win over Purchase last Sunday.

Madison Snyder had a homer and four RBIs in the win. In game one Snyder hit for the cycle and had seven RBIs as the Rams cruised to a five-inning 12-3 win.

Hofstra sweeps. Sara Michalowski had a homer and five RBIs as Hofstra (21-8, 5-0) took Game 2 of a CAA doubleheader, 7-2, over Delaware. Michalowski had an RBI-single as Hofstra beat Delaware, 2-1, in Game 1.

NYIT splits. Natasha Milosevich went 3-for-5 with four RBIs as NYIT (5-10) edged Mercy, 11-10, in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader. NYIT dropped the second game, 10-1.

BASEBALL

Nixon throws no-no.Robert Nixon threw a no-hitter and struck out nine for Adelphi in a 5-1 win over Merrimack in Game 1 of a Northeast-10 doubleheader. Richard Mejia hit an RBI-single in the 11th inning to give Adelphi a 2-1 win in Game 2. William Miller added a solo homer for Adelphi (16-7-1, 6-2).

Stony Brook sweeps. Junior Nick Tropeano struck out a career-high 14 in a four-hitter as Stony Brook (15-15) beat NYIT, 6-0, in game two of a doubleheader. Tyler Johnson allowed one unearned run over seven innings as Stony Brook took the second game, 10-1.

Briarcliffe wins two.Rick Doht struck out eight in a three-hitter and Briarcliffe (14-8, 10-4) completed a sweep of Apprentice, 12-0, in a USCAA doubleheader. Briarcliffe took the first game, 4-1.
