Galati strikes out 16 in Hofstra softball win

Olivia Galati struck out 16 with no walks in a two-hitter as Hofstra (29-6) defeated Fairfield, 5-0, in a softball game yesterday.
Michele DePasquale had a solo home run in the third and Becca Bigler scored Sara Michalowski with a sacrifice fly in the fifth for the Pride in its 11th straight win. Fairfield drops to 15-14.
BASEBALL
Molloy 9, Dowling 2:Robert LaRusso went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and Brian Benes went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and two RBIs to lead Molloy (19-16, 12-4) over Dowling (14-17, 9-12) in the ECC.
SUNY-Old Westbury 12, John Jay 5:Jason Kondra was 3-for-3 with four runs and two walks, Albert Bevacqua went 3-for-6 with three runs and an RBI and Josef Schaetzle was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for SUNY-Old Westbury (12-14) in non-conference. James Huber (3-0) allowed three hits and one run in four innings.
MEN'S LACROSSE
Adelphi 11, Dominican 10:Kevin Kemp scored an unassisted goal with 1:30 left in the game to win it for Adelphi (4-4) in non-conference. Mike Iorio and Jonathan Baron had three goals. Dominican falls to 3-6.
Nassau CC 16, Brookdale CC 2:Chris Mazzeo, Kieran Reriegal, and Kyle Smith each scored three goals for Nassau (10-2). Brookdale is 7-5.
Suffolk CC-Brentwood 14, Army JV 6:Brendan Hayes and Aaron Pinto each had three goals and one assist and Jason Smith added three goals for Suffolk-CC Brentwood (8-2). Mike Theiss had 14 saves for Suffolk-CC Brentwood.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
Adelphi 25, American International 7:Claire Petersen had five goals and five assists and Erica DeVito had five goals and three assists for Adelphi (11-0, 8-0) in Northeast-10. AIC is 7-3, 2-3.
Dowling 22, Mercy 7:Cassandra Cronin scored five goals and Brianna Falese added four goals as Dowling improved to 7-4, 2-0 in the ECC. Mercy falls to 5-4.
C.W. Post 22, Queens 3:Laura Spegnoletta had five goals to lead C.W. Post (10-0, 3-0 ECC). Sarah Boucher had two goals for Queens.
