First-year Hofstra coach Mo Cassara announced the signing of four players, including 6-6 Long Island Lutheran guard/forward Jordan Allen of Bay Shore, as the early national letter of intent signing period ended Wednesday.

The Pride also received formal commitments from 6-7 forward Moussa Kane of the Bronx and Frederick Douglass Academy, 6-6 guard/forward Malik Nichols of Brooklyn Boys & Girls High and 6-11 center Tyrone Lyons from Los Angeles.

Allen played for Bay Shore High and is a member of the New York Panthers AAU team, and was an all-Suffolk County selection by Long Island Basketball.

Kane, who averaged 14.2 points and 11 rebounds last season for Frederick Douglass, plays for the Metro Hawks AAU team and traveled to Turkey last summer with a New York City all-star team.

Nichols averaged 22.2 points last season at Hillcrest High in Queens, was MVP of the SmartBall Metro Classic last summer in Harlem and also is a member of the Metro Hawks.

Lyons was honorable mention All-South Coast Conference at L.A. Trade Tech, where he shot 53.3 percent and averaged two blocks per game.

"We are extremely excited about the four student-athletes who have signed with us and will join the Hofstra basketball family in the fall,'' Cassara said.
