Hofstra can't hold lead in loss to Richmond

The Hofstra men’s basketball team was on the road Monday night taking on the Richmond Spiders in a non-conference matchup.
The Pride never trailed in the first half but Richmond battled back and came away with a 81-68 win in the fifth game of the Speedy Claxton era at Robins Center.
Richmond earned its first lead of the contest on a Jacob Gilyard three-pointer just three minutes into the second half. The Spiders opened the half on a 17-8 run to go up 57-52.
Kvonn Cramer made 1 of 2 free throws with 7 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the game to bring Hofstra (1-4) within at point at 65-64, but the Spiders took over down the stretch. Richmond (3-2) went on a 16-4 run to close out the game and held the Pride to just one field goal in the final seven minutes. Hofstra went 10 of 28 (35.7 percent) from the field in the second half, while Richmond shot 55 percent.
Hofstra had a tough time defending Richmond forward Tyler Burton, who led all scorers with 22 points.
Darlinstone Dubar scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half and Cramer scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half to give the Pride a 44-40 halftime lead. Cramer totaled eight rebounds and Zach Cooks had 18 points in the loss.
