Kobe Bryant sank a fallaway jumper with 7.3 seconds left to give the visiting Los Angeles Lakers a 90-89 victory over Boston Sunday and send the struggling Celtics to their sixth loss in eight games. Bryant finished with 19 points.
Cavs, LeBron stay hot
LeBron James scored half of Cleveland's 46 points in the first quarter and the streaking Cavaliers tied an NBA record with 11 three-pointers in the opening period of their 114-89 home win over the Clippers. James finished with 32 points and 11 assists. Cleveland has won eight in a row . . . The Nets (4-42) scored 31 points in the second half in a 83-79 home loss to the 76ers.

The Toronto Maple Leafs shook up their struggling club, acquiring defenseman Dion Phaneuf from the Calgary Flames in a seven-player deal and swapping goalies with Anaheim to get J.S. Giguere.
Crosby lifts Pens over Wings
Sidney Crosby scored in regulation and the shootout and the Penguins overcame Jimmy Howard's second successive 46-save game to beat the visiting Detroit Red Wings, 2-1.

USF streaks past No. 17 Pitt
Dominique Jones scored 37 points and host South Florida (14-7, 4-5) extended its school-best Big East winning streak to three games with a 70-61 upset of sputtering No. 17 Pittsburgh. Gilbert Brown scored 25 for Pittsburgh (16-5, 6-3).
Prahalis, Ohio St. fall again
Jori Davis scored 19 points and host Indiana beat the No. 4 Ohio State women, 67-62. Jantel Lavender paced the Buckeyes (21-3, 9-2) with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Sammy Prahalis finished with 14 points for Ohio State, which lost for the second time in three games.

The new Action Express Racing team showed up at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., this week simply looking to take its new engine for a test run at Daytona. What a run it was. Joao Barbosa powered the team to the 24 Hours of Daytona title, finishing an improbable victory in the organization's first appearance in the sports car endurance race.

Fagan wins 1st PBA title
Mike Fagan of Patchogue defeated PBA Hall of Famer and all-time win leader Walter Ray Williams Jr. for his first individual Tour title in the PBA Dick Weber Open in Fountain Valley, Calif. Fagan, 29, defeated Williams, 241-213, in the championship match to earn the $25,000 first prize. "The key for me was just to bowl the way I know I can and the results will take care of themselves," Fagan said.

Amityville's Weber sixth
Russell Weber of Amityville earned $20,500 for his sixth-place finish in the 11th annual Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship Saturday night in Las Vegas. Brian Troop, 61, of Barrie, Ontario, won the $500,000 first-place prize. Defending champ John Conte of Oceanside was 243rd in a field of 302. - AP
