LIU Post senior guard Alexis Peters had one thing on her mind after stealing an inbound pass with 1.1 second and her team trailing by one point yesterday in an NCAA Division II regional quarterfinal: hit the shot.

Peters did just that, sinking a runner as time expired to push the third-seeded Pioneers past No. 6 Assumption 60-59 at the Dana Athletic Center in Waltham, Mass.

Post, which overcame a 13-point second-half deficit, will play No. 2 Adelphi in a semifinal tomorrow at 5 p.m.

“I was thinking please just go in,” said Peters, who had 21 points on 9-for-15 shooting. It was Post’s fourth straight NCAA appearance and sixth overall. It’s the first tournament win for the program since beating Florida International, 78-50, on March 11, 1983.

Here's a video of the final shot.
