LIU men's soccer ousted from NCAA Tournament after loss to Saint Louis
The LIU men’s soccer team’s season ended on Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 loss at No. 10 seed Saint Louis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Billikens took a quick 1-0 lead on a goal from John Klein 3:43 into the first half. Klein scored again at the 15:51 mark and the Billikens added another goal at 20:57.
LIU cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 22nd minute on a free kick from freshman Robert Winkler. It was Winkler’s fourth goal of the season.
Saint Louis scored twice more in the second half.
LIU goalie Demetri Skoumbakis made three saves. The Sharks played much of the second half a man down due to a red card.
The Sharks finished the season with a 12-5-4 record.
