Matt Hughes scored two of his three goals during an eight-goal first half for Towson in a 9-8 win over No. 5 Stony Brook in non-conference men's lacrosse Saturday.

Senior Timmy Trenkle tied a career high with three goals and Kevin Crowley added two goals and three assists for Stony Brook (3-2). Towson is 2-4.

C.W. Post 10, St. Michaels 4:Eddie Plompen had five goals and Nick Coric added two goals and two assists for top-ranked C.W. Post (9-0) in non-conference. Nassau CC 6, Anne Arundel CC 3:Tim Daly scored two goals and Tim Bradley had 12 saves for Nassau CC (3-1) in non-conference.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Hofstra 15, Fairfield 6:Maryann Miller scored two goals and had two assists and Bettina Mianulli had three ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead Hofstra (3-5). Fairfield is 5-3.

 

BASEBALL

Farmingdale State 8, Mount St. Vincent 1: C.J. Bula allowed five hits in 6 1/3 innings in the second game of a doubleheader for Farmingdale State (7-7, 1-1 Skyline) Mt. St. Vincent is 4-10, 1-1. Farmingdale State dropped the first game, 12-9.Delaware 6, Hofstra 5:Danny Poma went two-for-five with an RBI and a run scored for Hofstra (2-12, 2-3 CAA). Delaware is 9-10, 4-10.

 

SOFTBALL

C.W. Post 8, Stonehill 1:Christine Berardi struck out six in seven innings to lead C.W. Post (6-4) at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Stony Brook University 5, Holy Cross 2:Jess Combs had a three-run homer and four RBIs for Stony Brook (6-9) in Game 1 of a non-conference split doubleheader. Taylor Holy Cross is (4-8). Stony Brook dropped the second game to Fairfield (7-6), 2-1.
