Local colleges: USMMA tops Juniata in soccer
Kurt Olsen scored the winner in overtime to lift USMMA over host Juniata, 2-1, Saturday in Landmark Conference men's soccer. Nick Vogel put the Mariners (5-3, 3-0) on the board in the first half, but Dane Azeles tied it for Juniata in the 28th minute. Olsen's unassisted goal broke the stalemate in the 106th minute. Stephen Fucito made two saves in the win. Ezra Cassel had four saves for Juniata (5-4).
St. Joseph's (L.I.) 3, Maritime 0:Fabio Alves scored two goals to lead St. Joseph's (3-6, 1-0 Skyline). Chris Muhs made two saves in the shutout.
Molloy 2, St. Thomas Aquinas 1:Tyler De La Torre's goal off a pass from Dan Brown gave Molloy a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute. Molloy is 4-3, 2-0 ECC.
Queens 4, Dowling 2:Jose Lopez had two goals and an assist, and Tyler Iocco added a goal and an assist to lead Queens (3-0-2). Stefan Draskovic scored two goals for Dowling (0-3).
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Adelphi 1, St. Michael's 0: Kaitlin Monteith scored unassisted in the 89th minute for Adelphi (5-2-1). Sam Whitney made eight saves in the shutout. Kaylee Sullivan had three saves for St. Michael's (1-5-1).
Farmingdale State 3, Manhattanville 0:Christina Merrill had two goals and an assist to lead Farmingdale State (4-4). Theresa Martorano added a goal and Breanna Blair made a save in the shutout.
Molloy 1, St. Thomas Aquinas 1: Tricia Zarro scored off a corner from Alyssa Faller at 80:26 to tie the score for Molloy (4-2-1, 2-0-1 ECC). Nisha Flinn had given St. Thomas Aquinas a lead 34 seconds into the game.
Dowling 1, Queens 1: Briana Campisi scored in the 26th minute to tie the score for Dowling (5-2-1, 1-1-1 ECC) and the game remained tied through two overtimes.
FIELD HOCKEY
Adelphi 2, Bentley 1: Sayville grad Cassie Cabral scored the overtime winner off a feed from Jamie Ackerman (Smithtown East) in the 76th minute for Adelphi (1-8). Molly Cuevas had tied it at 60:49 for the Panthers. Kristine Puzio made two saves in the win.
LIU Post 7, Kutztown 3: Freshman Keliann Margiotta scored a career-high four goals and Carlee Dragon added two goals and an assist to lead Post (5-2).
