Sam Llinares gets hat trick in Hofstra's loss to Ohio State

Sam Llinares recorded his second hat trick of the season for Hofstra, but it wasn't enough as Jesse King of Ohio State tallied four goals to help give the Buckeyes a 9-8 victory over the Pride in men's lacrosse in Columbus Saturday.
Llinares extended his scoring streak to 34 games.
In addition to Llinares' three goals, Mike Malave had two goals for Hofstra (1-4). Pride goalie Chris Selva had 13 saves against Ohio State (5-2). Neither team is ranked.
St. John's falls to No. 1
St. John's held top-ranked Syracuse scoreless for the opening 27:36 at the Cobb County Lacrosse Classic in Kennewsaw, Georgia, but the Red Storm could not withstand a potent, second-half offensive blitz by the Orange (5-0), resulting in a 14-6 win over St. John's (1-5).
Stony Brook women roll
Powered by two goals and five assists from freshman Kylie Ohlmiller, the Stony Brook women's team topped Villanova, 13-6, at LaValle Stadium.
Ohlmiller's five assists tied Alyssa Cardillo for the program's single-game record for a freshman.
Michelle Rubino and Courtney Murphy each had three goals as 18th-ranked Stony Brook improved to 3-0 heading into Tuesday's clash against visiting No. 16 Notre Dame. Villanova falls to 1-3.
Seawolves coach Joe Spallina looked ahead to the next challenge: "Our focus for us now shifts to Notre Dame Tuesday under the lights in our own barn," he said. "It's a huge game on Long Island."
