LSU atop BCS, 'Bama 3rd

Not surprisingly, the LSU Tigers are No. 1 in the latest BCS standings. What may be surprising is that Alabama dropped just one spot to No. 3 after losing at home to the Tigers. Oklahoma State moved up to No. 2, while Stanford and Boise State remained at fourth and fifth. Oregon and Arkansas switched places and are seventh and eighth, respectively. Don’t think that isn’t significant, because if Alabama were to lose again Arkansas could sneak up on the Tide and be the second SEC team in a BCS Bowl game.

Houston was also a winner this week. The Cougars moved up two spots to 11th, which guarantees them a BCS Bowl berth if they can win the Conference USA championship. Penn State put itself into BCS at-large position after moving up four places to 12th.
