Maysonet (193 yards) sparks SBU, 38-28
Sophomore Miguel Maysonet gained 193 yards on 20 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Stony Brook football team beat Coastal Carolina, 38-28, in a Big South game last night in Conway, S.C.
Maysonet rushed for 168 yards and all three TDs in the first half for the Seawolves (3-4, 2-0), who took a 31-0 lead. One of his carries went for 78 yards to the 2. "That half was the best football I've seen since I've been at Stony Brook,'' coach Chuck Priore said. "We were coming off a loss that really hurt this team, and I thought we played with character and pride. Our coaches came up with a great game plan. As for Miguel, he's been great for us. This is a game we're going to build off."
Brock Jackolski added two touchdown runs; he leads the Big South with seven rushing touchdowns and Stony Brook with eight TDs. It was the Seawolves' fourth game with at least 200 yards rushing. Stephen Schwicke and Craig Richardson had interceptions for SBU, 10-3 against Big South competition.
