Sara Michalowski hit a two-run homer in the fifth as visiting Hofstra completed a doubleheader softball sweep of UNC Wilmington with a 3-1 win yesterday.

Michalowski's grand slam led Hofstra (34-11, 15-1) to an 11-0 win in Game 1. Hofstra coach Bill Edwards (800-37-4) won his 800th career game with the two wins. UNC Wilmington is 11-14, 2-14.

C.W. Post sweeps. Kendall Bright went 2-for-3 with three RBIs as C.W. Post topped Bridgeport, 11-0, in the second game of an ECC doubleheader. Pioneers coach Jamie Apicella earned his 500th career victory with the victory. Nicole Hagenah went 4-for-4 with three RBIs as the Pioneers (34-12, 20-8) won the first game, 10-0.

Farmingdale State 7, NYU-Poly 5: Kristen Flint's two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth put No. 1 seed Farmingdale State (31-5) up 6-5 in a Skyline tournament game. The Rams will host No. 2 NYU-Poly in the championship game Sunday at 11 a.m.

BASEBALL

Farmingdale State 11, SUNY-Old Westbury 2: Ryan Rubenstein went 2-5 with two RBIs to lift No. 2 Farmingdale State (21-12) in a Skyline double elimination game. Farmingdale State advances to the championship series.

Stony Brook wins two.Tyler Johnson struck out five in a seven-inning four-hitter as Stony Brook (30-9, 11-1) beat Binghamton, 6-0, in Game 2 of an America East doubleheader. Chad Marshall scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th as Stony Brook took Game 1, 5-4.

MEN'S TENNIS

Farmingdale State 5, Mt. St. Mary 2: Christian Bormann defeated Mike McNicholas, 6-0, 6-1, at first singles as Farmingdale (12-2) won the Skyline tournament championship. Bormann was named tournament MVP.
