Nelson's 1,000th kill lifts Stony Brook
Senior Alicia Nelson totaled 33 kills, including the 1,000th of her career as Stony Brook topped Coppin State and Bucknell in a women's volleyball doubleheader at the Bucknell Invitational Saturday.
Nelson had 16 kills as the Seawolves rallied from a two-set deficit to knock off Coppin State in the first match, 23-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-2.
Nelson had 17 kills and surpassed 1,000 as the Seawolves topped Bucknell, 25-19, 25-15, 20-25, 19-25, 15-10, in the second match of the day.
Nelson became the eighth player in SBU history to record 1,000 career kills.
Freshman Laura Hathaway totaled a season-best 26 digs against Bucknell and junior Greta Strenger chipped in 13 kills and 12 digs against Bucknell and 11 kills against Coppin State.
Hofstra 3, Seattle 1: Freshman outside hitter Kelsie Wills had 16 kills and 13 digs, and sophomore outside hitter Nikki Kinnier had 16 kills and six digs to lead Hofstra in a 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21 win over Seattle at the Aggie Invitational hosted by the University of California-Davis.

Mercyhurst 34, C.W. Post 7: Travis Rearick completed 24 of 35 passes for 372 yards and two touchdowns for Mercyhurst (2-1) in a non-conference game.
Anthony Brunetti scored for C.W. Post (0-3).
Maritime 13, USMMA 7: Jamie Spanopoulos carried 16 times for 87 yards for USMMA (1-2) in non-conference.
JP Gosselin had 65 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries for Maritime (2-1).

Fredonia State 5, Farmingdale State 0: Matt Grabowski and Barry Hunt each scored for Fredonia State (6-2) in non-conference. Farmingdale State drops to 2-4.
USMMA 2, Goucher 1: Freshman Kyle Arestivo scored in the first half and Kurt Olsen scored in the second half to lift USMMA (5-1, 1-0 Landmark). Goucher College falls to 2-4, 0-1.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Adelphi 2, UMass-Lowell 1: Chali Beard scored the winner in the 95th minute to lift Adelphi (3-2, 2-2 Northeast-10). UMass-Lowell is 2-2, 1-1-2.
