No. 1 Oklahoma falls at Missouri

First Alabama, then Ohio State and now Oklahoma.

For the third straight week, the No. 1 team in the land has lost on the road. Alabama and Ohio State were ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. Oklahoma was No. 1 thanks to the first BCS standings released on Sunday.

Now there will be a new No. 1.

Missouri, No. 11 in the BCS standings, pulled off a 36-27 win over the Sooners.

The keys to the win:

-- Missouri rushed for 178 yards with a running back-by-committee approach and a solid offensive line. That took the pressure off quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who played very well by going 30 for 42 for 308 yards and a touchdown.

-- Oklahoma had three turnovers, a fumble and two interceptions by Landry Jones, Down 26-21 in the fourth quarter, Jones threw a costly pick that resulted in a field goal. Missouri scored a touchdown on its next position to take complete control.

-- Much like last season, Oklahoma struggles on the road. All five losses last season were away from home.

Missouri is now the only unbeaten team remaining in the Big 12. Also, the Tigers have sole possession of first place in the Big 12 North. But Missouri plays Nebraska next week so there won't be too much time to celebrate this win.

Oklahoma is still is good shape in the Big 12 South. The Sooners trail Baylor by a half game and are tied with Oklahoma State at 2-1. The Sooners end the season against both teams. But both games are on the road, Still, Oklahoma controls its destiny for a spot in the Big 12 title game.

As far as the BCS goes, Oregon should move up to No. 1. Boise State could move up to No. 2 -- or it could be Auburn. TCU will likely be next. Then Michigan State and Missouri could be factors.
