No. 1 Oregon blows out Arizona in second half

No. 1 Oregon used a huge second half to beat No. 20 Arizona 48-29 Friday night in Eugene.

The Ducks (11-0, 8-0 in the Pac-10) clinched the Pac-10 title and automatic BCS bowl bid. But, more importantly, Oregon kept alive its dream of playing for the BCS national title in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 10.

Oregon has one obstacle remaining -- the Civil War against rival Oregon State next week.

Arizona actually took a 19-14 lead at halftime. But the Ducks erupted for 20 points in the third quarter and had a 34-22 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Oregon tacked on two more scores to put the game out of reach at 48-22 early in the fourth quarter.

Oregon rolled up 537 yards of total offense, including 389 on the ground. LaMichael James led the way with 126 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. Darron Thomas threw for three touchdowns and ran for another.

Arizona (7-4, 4-4) had 506 yards of total offense. Nick Foles acounted for most of those yards, throwing for a career-high 448 yards and three touchdowns,
