No. 12 Arkansas beats No. 5 LSU, 31-23
No. 12 Arkansas beat No. 5 LSU 31-23 on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark.
Ryan Mallett threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns for the Razorbacks.
Arkansas (10-2, 6-2 in the SEC) went for it on fourth-and-3 early in the fourth quarter and Mallett hit Joe Adams for a 39-yard touchdown. The Razorbacks were up 21-20 at the point, so a huge conversion for Arkansas.
The significance of the win for Arkansas is that it keeps the Razorbacks alive for a BCS at-large bid. If Auburn beats South Carolina in the SEC title game and advances to the BCS national title game, look for Arkansas to possibly get a bid to the Sugar Bowl.
LSU (10-2, 6-2) was in prime position to earn a BCS at-large bid with a win over the Razorbacks, but the Tigers may instead be playing in the Capital One Bowl.
