North Carolina suspends Marvin Austin indefinitely

North Carolina head coach Butch Davis suspended starting defensive tackle Marvin Austin today, citing a violation of team rules.

Davis made the announcement in a brief statement released by the school.

"This decision is not a result of the ongoing NCAA review," Davis said. "Marvin has violated team rules and has neglected his responsibilities to the team."

The NCAA is conducting an investigation into whether Austin received improper benefits from agents.

No. 18 North Carolina plays LSU Saturday night in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta.
