DURHAM, N.C. — Cannon Peebles singled up the middle to score Noah Soles in the top of the 11th inning and N.C. State beat Duke 8-7 Tuesday night in pool play at the ACC Baseball Tournament.

Chase Nixon flied out to lead off the 11th, Soles capped an eight-pitch at-bat with a single to left and eventually advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches before Peebles hit a 3-0 pitch back up the middle to give N.C. State (35-18) an 8-7 lead.

Logan Whitaker (5-3), who came on in the 10th inning and struck out four over two scoreless innings to earn the win, retired the Blue Devils (35-20) 1-2-3 in the home half of the last inning.

No. 9 seed N.C. State plays Miami on Thursday and the fourth-seeded Hurricanes play Duke on Friday, the final day of pool play.

Duke had the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth but Dominic Fritton struck out Andrew Fischer looking to end then threat. After N.C. went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth, MJ Metz hit a two-run home run in the bottom to make it 7-7 and force extra innings.

Noah Soles walked on four pitches to lead off the game and LuJames Groover III hit the next pitch high over the wall in left to make it 2-0 and N.C. State never trailed.

Parker Nolan led off the second inning with a walk and scored on Kalae Harrison double before Groover singled up the middle to bring home Harrison and the Wolf Pack used three walks and three hits, including a double by Harrison, to score three runs in the third and take a 7-1 lead.

Tyler Albright hit a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth and an RBI single in the six before Stone hit and RBI single in the seventh to make it 7-5.

Duke has hit a home run in 45 of its 55 games this season.
