RG III has fan in Baylor WBB coach Mulkey
The Baylor womens basketball team had one important stop to make before taking on St. John's in the Maggie Dixon Classic on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
That stop was to see Robert Griffin III get awarded the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night.
Baylor coach Kim Mulkey took time out during her post-game press conference to heap praise on Griffin III, who beat out fellow favorites Andrew Luck and Trent Richardson.
"Robert is everything that is good about college football," said Mulkey. "Don't be surprised if he comes back. [ for his senior season]."
The No. 1 Bears (10-0) beat the Red Storm, 73-59. It wasn't a typical Baylor performance as St. John's led, 36-30, with 18: 27 left in the second half. Mulkey didn't want to make excuses, but cited her team attending the Heisman presentation as one of the many distractions it experienced this weekend.
Said Mulkey: "We were here for for Robert Griffin, a great moment in Baylor history. And we wanted to be a part of that. We had a lot of things distracting us, let alone the opponent we were playing."
