SB men and women win, Evans sets mark for Pride

Everyone likes numbers. And Stony Brook coach Steve Pikiell certainly likes what he has been seeing from his team. Stony Brook shot a season-high 53.7 percent from the field in its 73-50 win at Cornell on Wednesday night.
Here are some more numbers: Stony Brook is 20-1 since the start of the 2011-2012 season when holding its opponents under 60 points…Stony Brook also out rebounded Cornell 38-20 and outscored them 32-9 in the paint…Pikiell won his 100th game as Stony Brook coach and is 100-120 at the school. He’s 64-39 since the start of the 2009-2010 season. More importantly, the Seawolves are 5-2… Freshman Jameel Warney was again a force in the paint with 19 points on 7-for-8 shooting and 11 rebounds…Anthony Jackson had 20 points. It was the second time in three games Jackson has scored 20 or more points. He had 21 in a win over Canisius on Saturday.
Said Pikiell: "I liked the way we played tonight. We did our damage in the post, both on offense and defense. I liked how we forced them to take jump shots, and we made sure to outrebound them and avoid second chances. We now have to head home and prepare for another big game on Saturday."
