SBU's Van Dalen second in 1,500 meters

Lucy Van Dalen of Stony Brook took second in the women's 1,500-meter final, with a time of 4 minutes, 15.33 seconds, at the 2011 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines Saturday.

The finish marked the senior's third All-American honor this season, joining her selections for cross-country and the indoor 3,000. She was also named an All American in the 1,500 last season.

Van Dalen becomes the first Stony Brook track athlete to earn three All-American honors in the same season, and concludes the best season by a Stony Brook track athlete since its move to Division I in 1999, according to the Stony Brook sports information department.
