Army upsets No. 2 seed Syracuse, will face Cornell at Stony Brook

Visiting Army upset two-time defending national men's lacrosse champion Syracuse, beating the second-seeded Orange, 9-8, in the second overtime in an NCAA Tournament first-round game. Army will face seventh-seeded Cornell in one of the two NCAA quarterfinal games at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium Sunday afternoon. In the other game, eighth-seeded Stony Brook will host top-seeded Virginia.

Notre Dame upset sixth-seeded Princeton, 8-5, and fourth-seeded North Carolina beat Delaware, 14-13. Notre Dame will face third-seeded Maryland and North Carolina will play fifth-seeded Duke at Princeton Saturday in the other two quarterfinals.

GOLF

Scott takes Texas Open

Adam Scott made the Texas Open his first PGA Tour victory in two years, shooting a combined 11-under-par 133 in a 36-hole finale to edge Fredrik Jacobson by a stroke. Scott overcame two early bogeys with an eagle on the par-4 17th in his third-round 66, then built his lead with six birdies en route to a closing 67 on the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.

Pak wins in playoff

Se Ri Pak birdied the third playoff hole to beat Brittany Lincicome in a rain-shortened Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Ala. The tournament was reduced to a sudden-death playoff between Pak, Lincicome and Suzann Pettersen, the co-leaders after Saturday's round. Pettersen dropped out on the second hole.

Forsman wins seniors

Dan Forsman made an eagle and four straight birdies on the way to winning the Regions Charity Classic in Hoover, Ala., by three strokes. Forsman shot 66, following a 62 the day before at Ross Bridge.

Hayes wins Travis title

Ben Hayes, who once won the club championship at Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., where about 30 PGA Tour pros are members, won the 100th Walter J. Travis Invitational at Garden City Golf Club, defeating Jay Crowley of Round Hill Club in Connecticut, 3 and 2, in the final.

AUTO RACING

Busch wins at Dover

Kyle Busch won the Sprint Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway a day after he won the Nationwide Series race. Busch just missed a tripleheader sweep on the one-mile. He was in position to win the Trucks Series race Friday but ran out of gas. He easily won Saturday's second-tier series race and raced about 800 miles in three days. Sunday, Busch swapped the lead with Jimmie Johnson throughout most of the 400-mile race.

Webber takes Monaco

Mark Webber won the Monaco Grand Prix from the pole position to lead Red Bull to a 1-2 finish. Webber's fourth career win moved him atop the Formula One standings ahead of teammate Sebastian Vettel, who overtook Robert Kubica of Renault at the start to finish 0.4 seconds behind.

TENNIS

Nadal beats Federer

Rafael Nadal won a record 18th Masters title by beating Roger Federer, 6-4, 7-6 (5), in the Madrid final. In the women's final, Venus Williams was beaten, 6-2, 7-5, by Aravane Rezai of France.

HOCKEY

Dubinsky contributes for U.S.

In the relegation round of the World Ice Hockey Championships in Cologne, Germany, Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno scored twice and the Rangers' Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and two assists in the United States' 4-0 victory over France. - AP
