CLINTON, S.C. - Stony Brook kept alive its Big South title hopes yesterday, routing Presbyterian College, 37-7, as junior Michael Coulter threw a career-high four touchdown passes and Miguel Maysonet eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season.

Stony Brook (5-4) improved to 4-0 in conference play and remained tied for the Big South lead with Liberty, a 40-14 winner over Gardner-Webb. The Seawolves, 12-3 all-time in Big South games, outgained Presbyterian 509-176 in total yardage.

Coulter's scoring passes covered 10, 48, 7 and 23 yards. Jordan Gush caught two of those passes as the Seawolves took a 37-0 lead. SBU lost the shutout when it allowed a 12-yard touchdown pass by Presbyterian (1-8, 1-4) with 20 seconds left.

The last SBU quarterback to throw at least four touchdown passes in a game was Josh Dudash, who threw five against Robert Morris in 2005.

Maysonet gained 130 yards on 20 carries, scoring his team-leading 11th touchdown on a 7-yard pass from Coulter. The sophomore has 1,007 rushing yards this season. Junior Brock Jackolski added 101 yards rushing on 14 carries.

"We're getting close," coach Chuck Priore said. "I think you can see this team is playing with confidence. We're playing with no fear in our minds, and we're continuing to build on something.''

SBU opened the scoring midway through the second quarter on Maysonet's touchdown reception. Jackolski returned the second-half kickoff 63 yards to the Presbyterian 26 to set up Coulter's 10-yard pass to Gush, making it 14-0.

A bad snap on a punt resulted in a Presbyterian safety, and on the first play after the free kick, Coulter hit Michael Lepore for a 48-yard score to give Stony Brook a 23-0 lead. It was Lepore's first collegiate touchdown.

Gush added a 23-yard TD reception and redshirt freshman Vincent Polo ran 10 yards for his first career touchdown.
