Stony Brook meets Buffalo first time
It's a beautiful evening for football at UB Stadium on the SUNY-Buffalo campus. This marks the first-ever Division I football meeting between the FBS Bulls and the FCS-level Seawolves.
Both teams played well in losing efforts in their openers a week ago. Stony Brook took UTEP of Conference USA into overtime before losing, 31-24. That was only the Seawolves' second game against a FBS opponent. Today is No. 3 against the Bulls of the Mid-American Conference, and SBU is shooting for its first-ever win over a FBS school.
That will be tough against the Bulls, who had 403 yards of offense in a 35-16 loss against Pitt of the Big East. Quarterback Chazz Anderson transferred after graduating from Cincinnati, where he was a member of the Bearcats' Orange Bowl team two seasons ago. Anderson has one year of eligibility left.
Newsday will provide a brief halftime summary and end-of-game recap here at Campus Confidential, and Greg Logan will post occasional updates on Twitter at GregLogan1.
