Stony Brook, Priore agree to contract extension
Stony Brook announced on Tuesday that head footbal coach Chuck Priore has agreed to a contract extension through 2016. Priore’s previous deal had him leading the program through 2013.
Priore is 28-27 in five seasons at Stony Brook. The Seawolves, however, are 10-2 and have shared conference titles in the Big South Conference the past two seasons.
“Coach Priore continues to represent Stony Brook University and our athletic program with class and dignity, and under his outstanding leadership, Seawolves football is positioned to be one of the elite Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs in the country,” Stony Brook athletic director Jim Fiore said in a statement. “We are fortunate to have someone with his passion, vision and energy leading our program. We have enjoyed a great deal of success in a short period of time and look forward to an even brighter future.”
Stony Brook played South Florida, a Football Bowl Subdivision program, last season and will play Texas-El Paso and Buffalo in 2011.
