Men's basketball games at Boston University haven't gone well for Stony Brook in the last 10 months.

Despite sophomore guard Dave Coley's career-high 21 points, the Seawolves had their winning streak snapped at six games Saturday in a 61-55 loss to BU.

In Stony Brook's previous game at Boston University last March -- the America East championship game -- two free throws with 2.4 seconds left gave the Terriers a 56-54 win over Stony Brook and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Bryan Dougher's desperation shot from beyond midcourt at the buzzer had hit the back rim in that game. This time around, his bid for a tying three-pointer with 33 seconds remaining was off the mark, and BU went 6-for-7 from the free-throw line to seal the win.

Dougher had 14 points and Al Rapier 10 for the Seawolves, who fell behind 19-5 and 21-7 before tying the score at 38 on Coley's jumper with 10:36 remaining.

Coley's three-point play with 1:59 left moved Stony Brook within 53-52. But BU's Darryl Partin (18 points, 16 in the second half) banked in a jumper for a three-point lead before Dougher missed his potential tying three. Dougher's three-pointer with three seconds left made it 59-55, but D.J. Irving sank two free throws to clinch it.

It was the first loss in 28 days for Stony Brook (9-7, 4-1 America East). BU (7-11, 3-1) shot 46.9 percent from the field.

"Usually we defend the ball even when we're not scoring," Stony Brook coach Steve Pikiell said. "But I liked how we fought back and got back into the game. We just fell short.''
