Carson Puriefoy scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half to lead Stony Brook to a 59-47 victory over American on Tuesday night.

Jameel Warney added 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Stony Brook (7-6). The Seawolves have won six straight at home this year.

The game was tied at 25 at the break. Stony Brook's Rayshaun McGrew drove for a layup and Roland Nyama hit a jumper to give the Seawolves a 29-25 lead to start the second half. They never trailed in the second period, but the Eagles would not fold.

American's Pee Wee Gardner, who finished with 12 points, made a layup to tie at 42 with 8:27 remaining in the game. The Seawolves answered with a 10-0 run and a 52-42 lead with 2:49 left and coasted to the win.

Jesse Reed had 12 and John Schoof chipped in 10 for American (7-5).
